Okay, I will say this one more time and then I’m not allowed to say it again – TIME FLIES. I swear I just updated the blog but it has been almost a month.
Epperson January recap:
Jordan: Winter is supposed to be a slower time but it seems like we have been extra busy, especially with hog work. In the winter months, all the minor issues in the hog buildings (broken gate, fix curtain, etc). That all takes time and we have four sites to take care of. On the farm, we had some drainage tiling put in on the home farm because 2019 reeked havoc on the low spots on the farm. Jordan and I attended a farming conference in St. Louis where we got to spend some time together but also with other farming peers from across the country. This conference always brings out the true entrepreneurial spirit in Jordan – he leaves with 1000 ideas to add/bring back to our farm.
Kylie: This month started out strong. I had such high hopes but the first two weeks were a roller coaster of emotions. I was just off my A-game. But as the month continued on, I feel like I am back on track to making 2020 a great year. I have started organizing my schedule on a paper organizer (this one) and keeping it in sync with Jordan and I’s shared google calendar. I am also working on each day’s schedule – planning out major goals for each day. Finding time to relax is also a struggle for me. I have found a little time to read but when I am not working in the office or around the house, I feel like I should be cleaning something. Can you relate? Family is a super focus this month as I feel like my mind has been elsewhere. I also started up intentional praying and reading my favorite devotional that I had gotten away from reading regularly.
Green is my happy color! Have you checked out these planners?
R & R: Could they be growing up any faster? They have been joining us a when it is our weekend to check the nursery pigs and they are LOVING it. Can you tell by their faces? Rhett gives me a morning update on the pigs (even when he hasn’t been in the barn to see it). On Sunday, Jordan had taken Rhett with him to the nursery. He had a few things go wrong (simple problems, just stuff you don’t want to deal with on a Sunday) and just as Jordan was feeling low, Rhett turned to him and said “Dad, I love helping you. I am having fun.” MELT MY HEART. Jordan called immediatly to tell me this story (aka his heart was melting too!) Reese is finally sounding less “dutchy” and is able to get what she wants with words. She has been lecturing us for months in her own language but now we can all understand her.
Now, its onto February. I look at my calendar and think to myself “well, busy again and soon it will be planting season.” Soon enough outside will be green again (which makes me HAPPY!)
