Father (noun): any male ancestor, especially the founder of a family or line.
Can we all agree that a father is so much more than the above definition?
This picture speaks a thousand words.
From the day his child is born, a father takes on many responsibilities – teaching his children respect, kindness, empathy, strength, love and so much more. He teaches his children to love God. He teaches them how to respect others. A father leads his children by setting a good example, day in and day out. Ideally, a child wants to grow up to be just like his parents, with boys generally idolizing their fathers.

When I look at this picture, I see a son, who has looked up to his father for 30 years, watching his every move, learning from his successes and even more from his mistakes, studying behaviors and qualities, hoping to be half the man his father is.

I see a father who trusts his son with his whole heart. A father who is proud beyond words that his son choose to follow in his footsteps and build the legacy he worked so diligently to create over the years. A father who leads by example.

Every father and son relationship is different. While the words “I love you” or “I’m proud of you” or “I trust you” aren’t said aloud every single day, they are said through behavior. THIS relationship is built on trust. THIS relationship is strong. This son has grown into the father he idolized as a child. He did it. He grew up and is just like his father – and he has a three year old son who looks at him just like he looks at his own father.
This farm life is the life I’ve always wanted and cannot believe that I am living.
