I’m not sure why we couldn’t have come up with a better name for this recipe but when I couldn’t find the recipe card from my Granny, I convinced Rhett this was the name of the concoction we were whipping up.

My first question is when did I get so old that I had to bring a side dish to holiday gatherings? Maybe when I got married? One kid? Two kids? Yep, I’d say I qualify.

With all the main meal items – turkey, noodles, rolls, green bean casserole, mashed potatoes – taken, I knew I needed to pick a side dish that was not only delicious but something extra people would want to pile on their plate. As Thanksgiving day approached, I flipped through my recipe book but I couldn’t find the perfect side dish. So, who do you call? Your mom!

My mother suggested my Granny’s fluff salad and I knew that was the right choice – light and airy with the perfect amount of sweetness.

Here is what you’re really here for:

INGREDIENTS

16 oz Cool Whip (thawed)
1 can crushed pineapple
1 can mandarin oranges
1 can fruit cocktail
3.4 oz instant lemon pudding mix
3.4 oz instant vanilla pudding mix

In a large mixing bowl, add undrained crushed pineapple and both pudding mixes and stir until blended. Drain oranges and fruit cocktail and stir into the pudding mixture. Add cool whip to the bowl and mix. Refrigerate and enjoy! It was a hit at our family Thanksgiving and we are still snacking on it.

Added bonus! All ingredients can be kept in your pantry and freezer – perfect to whip up when you’re in a pinch and have to bring a side to any function! {whip up – haha! See what I did there…}
